Pocketed coils move more independently than a spring unit in which coils are mechanically tied together.
Why manufacturers use them
Individual wrapping allows localized spring response and gives mattress designers more control over layouts and reinforcement.
Do not shop by count alone
Gauge, layout, coil dimensions, zoning, perimeter design and the materials above the coils all influence the finished bed.
